Guest review: #BabyLove by Corine Dehghanpisheh

I know it's been a while since I posted anything on here, and I'm so so sorry! Life has been hectic lately, and unfortunately the blog wasn't my priority, but now it's summer I'm hoping it will be.
Today, I have invited my mum to review this picture book, as being a primary school teacher I feel that her opinions will be more valid than mine. Hope you enjoy!

Review

I feel as though this book is more of a social commentary than a children's picture book. This is a book for the new parents of the generation, who wish to buck the trend of sharing every detail of their baby's life online. I enjoyed the rhyme, and I think that is a great way to help your child's speech and understanding of words develop.

#BabyLove captures the ups and downs of having your life played out on social media.  It shows the good times, and the bad times, with the oversharing, the pride over public appropriation and the annoyance of becoming a performer for the camera.  There is a reality check at bedtime but this is overpowered by the message that recording everything for posterity is worthwhile. 

The artwork is uncluttered and clear and the framing of the pictures good.  This book will definitely appeal to small children in a similar situation to the baby in the story or to adults who wish to point out the changing world we live in.

About the author

Corine Dehghanpisheh is a children’s book author and illustrator. Her inspirations for writing and illustrating come from everyday life.

She was a Mom's Choice Awards® Silver Recipient and a Next Generation Indie Author Finalist for her debut children's book Can We Play Again?, which was published in March 2012. Her inspiration for this book came from her work as a Licensed Creative Arts Therapist in NYC.

Corine published her second children’s book, Buddy’s Dream, in November 2013, and her third children's book, #BabyLove: My Social Life, in July 2015.

When Corine is not busy being creative, she is most likely having fun taking pictures of her family. Corine lives in Manhattan, NY with her husband and new baby.
