Mini Reviews #2

Image
This post is going to be another couple of mini reviews, even though I only did the first one recently. Hope you enjoy! The Astrologer's Daughter by Rebecca Lim Publisher/Year: July 23rd 2014 Text Publishing Source/Format: e-arc | NetGalley (Thanks NetGalley/Text Publishing!) Rating: 3 stars out of 5 I received this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. This in no way affects my opinion. I had heard a couple of things about Rebecca's popular series, Mercy, so I decided to try this one out. This book was good, but it didn't have anything special that made me connect to it in any way. I enjoyed the whole astrology aspect of it, but I found Avicenna and Simon's relationship to be quite confusing. It might just be me, but I honestly didn't really know why they got together all of a sudden after disliking each other for so long. Sadly this book was only okay. Ghosts of Shanghai by Julian Sedgwick Publisher/Year: July 2nd 2015 Ho

Hi everyone! Welcome to Top Ten Tuesday, which is hosted over at  The Broke and The Bookish . This week's topic is Top Ten Scariest Book Covers. 1.  Asylum by Madeline Roux To be honest, all the covers in this series are terrifying, not just this one. 2.  Anna Dressed in Blood by Kendare Blake I remember this book really creeping me out when I read this for the first time. 3.  Ashes by Ilsa J. Bick My edition of this wasn't nearly as creepy as the first one on goodreads. 4.  Girl of Nightmares by Kendare Blake I think this cover might actually be scarier than the first one because you get to see Anna's face. 5.  Cryer's Cross by Lisa McMann There's something about the desk on this cover that is really creepy. 6.  Prophecy of the Sisters by Michelle Zink This is the scariest book cover I have ever seen. 7.  Slasher Girls & Monster Boys edited by April Genevieve Tucholke I don't really know what the cr

Top Ten Wishes I'd Ask The Book Genie To Grant Me

Hi everyone! Welcome to Top Ten Tuesday, which is hosted over at  The Broke and The Bookish . This week's topic is Top Ten Wishes I'd Ask The Book Genie To Grant Me. 1. A new book from Erin Morgenstern You guys know how much I love The Night Circus, but Erin hasn't come out with anything since, and I NEED more of her beautiful writing. 2. For The Raven King to come out sooner I just can't wait until February. It's too long. 3. Perfect book-to-movie adaptations It feels like they're turning every YA book into a film nowadays, and most of them aren't that great. 4. A room just for my books I want to have a room filled floor-to-ceiling with bookcases and books. 5. Meet J.K. Rowling I think my life would be made if I ever got to meet J.K. 6. Own a first-edition classic I've really started getting into buying second-hand classics, but nothing as special as this. 7. For all my favourite characters to come

Top Ten Author Duos I'd Love To See Write A Book Together

Image
Hi everyone! Welcome to Top Ten Tuesday, which is hosted over at  The Broke and The Bookish . This week's topic is Top Ten Author Duos I'd Love To See Write A Book Together. 1. Jenny Han and Rainbow Rowell I read my first book from both of these authors quite recently, and loved them. 2. Robyn Schneider and Leila Sales Severed Heads, Broken Hearts and This Song Will Save Your Life both felt quite similar to me and I think together the authors would create something beautiful. 3. Holly Black and Maggie Stiefvater Both authors do world-building so well, and just write amazing paranormal books. 4. Adi Alsaid and Nina LaCour I've read one book from each author, and they were both about roadtrips, which I loved. I think they could write about another classic contemporary theme together. 5. Morgan Matson and Gayle Forman I think these two would work well together, with Matson bringing the friendship and Forman bringing the romance. 6
