Hi everyone! Welcome to Top Ten Tuesday, which is hosted over at  The Broke and The Bookish . This week's topic is Top Ten Books I Plan To Have In My Beach Bag This Summer. 1.  Mosquitoland by David Arnold This sounds like such an interesting, adventure book and the book itself is so beautiful. 2.  Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell I've been wanting to read one of Rainbow's books for ages, and this seemed as good as any to start with. 3.  Severed Heads, Broken Hearts by Robyn Schneider I've had this book for a really long time and I'm determined to read it this summer. 4.  The Lost Art of Keeping Secrets by Eva Rice This is a review book that I got sent a little while back that really interests me. 5.  She Is Not Invisible by Markus Sedgwick I bought this last year and I've been itching to read it ever since, but have just never picked it up. 6.  Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by J.K. Twenty years after the pandemic, life feels relatively safe. But now a new danger looms, and he threatens the hopeful world every survivor has tried to rebuild. Top Ten Classics I Want To Read

Image
Hi everyone! Welcome to Top Ten Tuesday, which is hosted over at  The Broke and The Bookish . This week's topic is a freebie, and I chose to talk about Top Ten Classics I Want To Read. 1.  Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen I read Emma last year, and loved it, and this year I feel like reading another Jane Austen novel. Seeing as this is such a renowned classic, I thought I'd try this one next. 2.  The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald I'm quite ashamed that I haven't read this yet, especially considering how short it is! 3.  Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy I bought a copy of this soon after I watched the film a couple of years ago, but it's just been sitting on my shelf unread. 4.  Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll Technically I have already read this, but I want to re-read it before I start Through the Looking Glass, as I have a bind-up of the two. 5.  The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde I know th

Love Hurts edited by Malorie Blackman: Book review

Image
Book title/Author: Love Hurts edited by Malorie Blackman Publisher/Year: January 29th 2015 Corgi Children's Genre: YA Anthology/Short stories Series: No Pages: 576 Source/Format: e-arc | NetGalley (Thanks NetGalley/Corgi Children's!) Rating: 3 stars out of 5 I received this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. This in no way affects my opinion. *This review may contain spoilers!* Synopsis Malorie Blackman brings together the best teen writers of today in a stunningly romantic collection about love against the odds. Featuring short stories and extracts about modern star-crossed lovers from stars such as Gayle Forman, Markus Zusak and Patrick Ness, and with a brand-new story from Malorie Blackman herself, Love Hurts looks at every kind of relationship, from first kiss to final heartbreak. My review I had one major issue with this book - the overwhelming amount of extracts rather than original stories. These extracts

Top Ten Authors I REALLY Want To Meet

Image
Hi everyone! Welcome to Top Ten Tuesday, which is hosted over at  The Broke and The Bookish . This week's topic is Top Ten Authors I REALLY Want To Meet. 1. Cassandra Clare I am a MASSIVE fan of Cassandra's works, and I would love to thank her for all the content that she puts out, because she writes a lot! 2. J.K. Rowling This one is obvious, but I would just love to meet the person that wrote my favourite books in the whole wide world. 3. Maggie Stiefvater Maggie is a close second favourite author to J.K., which is saying something. She seems so crazy that it would be so interesting to talk to her. 4. Jenny Han I still haven't read any of Jenny's books (I know, okay!), but I have the feeling that she is my kind of person and that we would get on really well. 5. Morgan Matson Morgan is kind of the same as Jenny in the fact that I think I would get on really well with her, but I actually have read one of her books this time.

Starcrossed by Josephine Angelini: Book review

Image
Book title/Author: Starcrossed by Josephine Angelini Publisher/Year: June 2011 Macmillan Children's Genre: YA Fantasy Series: Starcrossed #1 Pages: 518 Source/Format: Paperback | Bought with my own money Rating: 3 stars out of 5 *This review may contain spoilers!* Synopsis Destiny brought them together. The gods will keep them apart. When shy, awkward Helen Hamilton meets Lucas Delos for the first time, she thinks two things: the first, that he is the most ridiculously beautiful boy she has seen in her life; the second, that she wants to kill him with her bare hands. An ancient curse means Lucas and Helen are destined to loathe one another. But sometimes love is stronger than hate, and not even the gods themselves can prevent what will happen next... My review I really enjoy Greek mythology, despite not having read a lot of it. This book was a modern twist on a classic tale, and while I didn't love it, it was enjoyable. The story of He

Top Ten Books I Will Probably Never Read

Image
Hi everyone! Welcome to Top Ten Tuesday, which is hosted over at  The Broke and The Bookish . This week's topic is Top Ten Books I Will Probably Never Read. 1. The Whole Twilight Series I have been unfortunate enough to watch all the films in this series, but there is no way in hell I am reading them too. 2. Fifty Shades of Grey I am never going to read this book, because 1. I'm not interested, and 2. I've heard that it's not even that good! 3. The Lord of The Rings Trilogy I feel really bad saying it, but I'm probably never going to read these books. I like the films but I've heard so many people struggling to read this series that I don't want to put myself through it. 4. Ender's Game Although this book has a cult following, I've heard about the sexism in this book and the fact that Orson Scott Card is openly homophobic and and a Chauvinist. Enough said. 5. The Bible I'm not religious, and even though
