Image
Book title/ Author: Blue Lily, Lily Blue by Maggie Stiefvater Publisher/ Year: October 21st 2014 Scholastic Genre: YA Fantasy Series: The Raven Cycle #3 Pages: 389 Source/ Format: Paperback | Bought with my own money Rating: 5 stars out of 5 *This review may contain spoilers!* Synopsis There is danger in dreaming. But there is even more danger in waking up. Blue Sargent has found things. For the first time in her life, she has friends she can trust, a group to which she can belong. The Raven Boys have taken her in as one of their own. Their problems have become hers, and her problems have become theirs. The trick with found things though, is how easily they can be lost. Friends can betray. Mothers can disappear. Visions can mislead. Certainties can unravel. My review The split between above and below in the prologue had me thinking that you would read from Maura's perspective all the way through the book, and although that wasn't the case, I d

Top Ten Books I'd Love to Read If I Had a Book Club

Image
Hi everyone! Welcome to Top Ten Tuesday, which is hosted over at  The Broke and The Bookish . This week's topic is Top Ten Books I'd Love to Read If I Had a Book Club. 1.  The Help by Kathryn Stockett I feel like book clubs help bring all types of people together and allow them to share their love of reading with other like-minded people. The Help, in particular, sounds like the perfect place to start when grasping others personalities and opinions. 2.  Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert There are mixed opinions on this book but I think that's perfect as it makes it open for discussion. 3.  The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger The concept just sounds so incredible, and I know it is well-loved. 4.  Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen This got so much attention when it first came out, and then once again when it proceeded to be turned in to a film. I never read it when it was big, but I hope to do so in the future sometime.

Book title/ Author: The Dream Thieves by Maggie Stiefvater Publisher/ Year: September 5th 2013 Scholastic Genre: YA Fantasy Series: The Raven Cycle #2 Pages: 450 Source/ Format: Paperback | Bought with my own money Rating: 5 stars out of 5 *This review may contain spoilers!* Synopsis Now that the ley lines around Cabeswater have been woken, nothing for Ronan, Gansey, Blue, and Adam will be the same. Ronan, for one, is falling more and more deeply into his dreams, and his dreams are intruding more and more into waking life. My review It took me WAY too long to buy this book after my head exploded with the wonderfulness that is The Raven Boys. I couldn't wait to see where the adventure continued but I just never found myself purchasing this book and even when I did buy it, it took me a while to pick it up. This book showe

Top Ten Diverse Books That I Want To Read

Image
Hi everyone! Welcome to Top Ten Tuesday, which is hosted over at  The Broke and The Bookish . This week's topic is Top Ten Diverse Books That I Want To Read. 1.  The Bane Chronicles by Cassandra Clare, Maureen Johnson and Sarah Rees Brennan Magnus Bane is notorious for being a sexy, bisexual warlock. He won me over in The Mortal Instruments and I can't wait to read more about him in The Bane Chronicles. 2.  The Walled City by Ryan Graudin The plot for this just sounds so gritty and rough and action-packed. That sounds great! I may have to borrow this from my friend sometime soon... 3.  Autumn Falls by Bella Thorne Although the plot doesn't blow me away, I can't fault Bella's hard work and passion, and the fact that she wanted to show her fans that if eve n she (as someone dyslexic) can write a book, then they certainly can. 4.  Exquisite Captive by Heather Demetrios You don't hear of many YA retellings of anything other than fa

Before I Blogged I Read: The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater

Image
I started this blog around a year and a half ago, so obviously there are TONS of books that I read before this blog was created. This feature, which was made by the awesome Jamie over at  The Perpetual Page Turner , showcases books that we've read a long time ago. Now, this won't be like a normal review. Instead I will just be sharing some notes I had while reading it originally. Book title/ Author: The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater Publisher/ Year: September 19th 2012 Scholastic Genre: YA Fantasy Series: The Raven Cycle #1 Pages: 454 Source/ Format: Paperback | Bought with my own money Rating: I gave it 5 stars on Goodreads Date I read it: October-November 2012 Thoughts 1. Some of my favourite fictional friendships. The relationships that Blue has with The Raven Boys feels so comfortable and something I want to be a part of. Also, the friendships solely within the boys is amazing to read about because Gansey especially, acts different with eac

Top Ten 2014 Releases I Meant To Read But Didn't Get To

Image
Hi everyone! Welcome to Top ten Tuesday, which is hosted over at  The Broke and The Bookish . This week's topic is Top Ten 2014 Releases I Meant To Read But Didn't Get To. 1.  The Iron Trial by Holly Black & Cassandra Clare (Magisterium #1) The authors alone made me so interested in this book but I just never got around to reading it, even though I do own an eARC of it. 2.  The Winner's Curse by Marie Rutkoski (The Winner's Trilogy #1) Everyone seemed to love this book last year and I kind of felt left out because I haven't even bought this yet! I will do soon, though. 3.  To All the Boys I've Loved Before by Jenny Han (To All the Boys I've Loved Before #1) The cover itself is so pretty that it drew me to this book. This was on a lot of people's End Of Year Surveys which has really pushed it to the top of my TBR pile. 4.  Sinner by Maggie Stiefvater (The Wolves of Mercy Falls #4) This is officially #4 in The Wolves

Hi everyone! Welcome to Top Ten Tuesday, which is hosted over at  The Broke and The Bookish . This week's topic is Top Ten Most Anticipated Debut Novels For 2015. 1.  Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard (Red Queen #1) I haven't read a lot of Fantasy, and especially not High Fantasy, but this just sounds amazing and it has already received a lot of praise, despite not even being out yet! 2.  My Heart and Other Black Holes by Jasmine Warga This seems like such an interesting concept and I can't wait to see how it all pans out. It already has a 4.25 rating on Goodreads, which has made me 100% sure that I am going to read it. 3.  We All Looked Up by Tommy Wallach I read  April's  review of this and it made me want to read this book SO much. I only wish it was March now! 4.  None of the Above by I.W. Gregorio I think we need a book like this, and I am so glad that it is coming out soon. It follows a teen who finds out that she's intersex. Obv

Every Day by David Levithan: Book review

Image
Book title/ Author: Every Day by David Levithan Publisher/ Year: September 2nd 2013 Electric Monkey Genre: YA Contemporary/Fantasy Series: Every Day #1 Pages: 372 Source/ Format: Paperback || Bought with my own money Rating: 5 stars out of 5 *This review may contain spoilers!* Synopsis Each morning, A wakes up in a different body. There's never any warning about who it will be, but A is used to that. Never get too attached. Avoid being noticed. Do not interfere. And that's fine - until A wakes up in the body of Justin and meets Justin's girlfriend, Rhiannon. From that moment, the rules by which A has been living no longer apply. My review Disclaimer: Although A has no gender, I have found it easiest to write this review referring to A as a boy, otherwise you will just read A over and over again.I hope you understand and this in no way means I don't support the fact that David wrote A to have no gender for a reason.
