Top Ten Books On My Winter TBR

Image
Hi everyone! Welcome to Top Ten Tuesday, which is hosted over at  The Broke and The Bookish . This week's topic is Top Ten Books On My Winter TBR. 1.  My True Love Gave To Me by Basically Everyone This is one of the few times where I'm actually so glad that I live in the UK because the cover over here looks so much nicer than the US version. So many popular YA authors are a part of this book and I can't wait to finally read something from all of them! 2.  Allegiant by Veronica Roth This is the final book in the Divergent trilogy, and while I will be sad to be done with the series, I can't wait to see what happens. 3.  Kitty Hawk and the Curse of the Yukon Gold by Iain Reading I was kindly given this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review, but unfortunately I haven't had the chance to read it yet. I think I might give this one a go in the Christmas holidays. 4.  Dash & Lily's Book of Dares by Rachel Cohn and Da

Before I Blogged I Read: Anna Dressed In Blood by Kendare Blake

Image
I started this blog a little over a year ago, so obviously there are TONS of books that I read before this blog was created. This feature, which was made by the awesome Jamie over at  The Perpetual Page Turner , showcases books that we've read a long time ago. Now, this won't be like a normal review. Instead I will just be sharing some notes I had while reading it originally. Book title/ Author: Anna Dressed In Blood by Kendare Blake Publisher/ Year: July 5th 2012 Orchard Books Genre: YA Horror Series: Anna #1 Pages: 373 Source/ Format: Paperback Bought with my own money Rating: I gave it 5 stars on Goodreads Date I read it: October 2012 Thoughts 1. The first book that scared me when I read it. Prior to reading this book, I had never really encountered a "horror" novel before. I mean, sure, I'd seen horror films and I read some of The Ring graphic novels, but I never thought that a Young Adult book could contain some real scary sce

Top Ten Sequels I Can't Wait To Read

Image
Hi everyone! Welcome to Top Ten Tuesday, which is hosted over at  The Broke and The Bookish . This week's topic is Top Ten Sequels I Can't Wait To Read. 1. The Dream Thieves by Maggie Stiefvater I have confessed my utmost adoration for Maggie Stiefvater, and The Raven Boys was no exception to this. For some reason, I haven't bought the sequel yet, but that needs to be changed immediately. 2. The Scorch Trials by James Dashner I really enjoyed The Maze Runner, and you can read my review for it  here . I have heard mixed reviews about the sequel, but I still think I'm going to give it a go. 3. Angel Fire by L.A. Weatherly I remember enjoying the first book in this series, Angel, but whenever I saw this book at the bookstore, it just looked really big and intimidating, which is why I never picked it up. 4. Pretties by Scott Westerfeld It's been so long since I read Uglies that I can't really remember my full opinions on it, but I

Top Ten Characters I Wish Would Get Their Own Book

Image
Hi everyone! Welcome to Top Ten Tuesday, which is hosted over at  The Broke and The Bookish . This week's topic is Top Ten Characters I Wish Would Get Their Own Book. 1. Isaac from The Fault In Our Stars I found Isaac's story and his illness to be really interesting and I would love to read a book focusing on his journey. He's also just a really funny guy and I think I would enjoy a book solely about him. 2. Sloane from Since You've Been Gone In Since You've Been Gone you find out a lot about Sloane, and you feel like you know her because of how much Emily thinks and speaks about her, but you don't really know her. I'd love to read about her, and how she lives. 3. Christina from the Divergent trilogy I have expressed my love for Christina and Tris' friendship in my  review  for Insurgent, so I won't go into that. However, I would really enjoy reading about Christina's experience as a Dauntless initiate. 4. Teresa o

Insurgent by Veronica Roth: Book review

Image
Book title/ Author: Insurgent by Veronica Roth Publisher/ Year: May 1st 2012 Harper Collins Genre: YA Dystopian Series: Divergent #2 Pages: 525 Source/ Format: Paperback Bought with my own money Rating: 4 stars out of 5 *This review may  contain spoilers!* Synopsis Tris has survived a brutal attack on her former home and family. But she has paid a terrible price. Wracked by grief and guilt, she becomes ever more reckless as she struggles to accept her new future. Yet if Tris wants to uncover the truth about her world, she must be stronger than ever... because more shocking choices and sacrifices lie ahead. My review When I found out that Veronica Roth decided to not include much of a recap in Insurgent, I was a bit wary prior to reading it. However, saying that, I feel like it was a good decision in this particular case as it helped the books to flow from one to the other. It shocked me to see how much the ending of Divergent affected everything in

Top Ten Books I Want To Reread

Image
Hi everyone! Welcome to Top Ten Tuesday, which is hosted over at  The Broke and The Bookish . This week's topic is Top Ten Books I Want To Reread. 1. City of Bones by Cassandra Clare This book became a favourite of mine years ago, and I have been feeling the urge to reread this and become a part of the world and connect with the characters again. I am also hoping to write a Before I Blogged I Read feature on this book, so that might be my excuse to read it once more. 2. The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern I have expressed my love for this book multiple times on the blog, so I won't delve into that again. However, I don't feel as though this little gem gets enough attention any more, seeing as it's been out for a few years. I want to reread this so I can appreciate the wonderful words and imagery all over again. 3. Lament by Maggie Stiefvater I LOVE Maggie, but this book just didn't agree with me. I'm thinking of giving it another cha
